As a photographer, there are certain locations that just feel magical every time you walk in—and the Sekrit Theater in Austin is one of those places. Tucked away in East Austin, this hidden gem offers an eclectic mix of vintage charm, overgrown greenery, and that iconic glass greenhouse that photographers dream about. So when my client reached out wanting a whimsical, editorial-style maternity session, I knew exactly where we needed to go.

From the moment we stepped onto the property, it felt like we had been transported into a storybook. The soft golden light filtered perfectly through the leaves, and the greenhouse caught every beam in the most ethereal way. It was the perfect setting to celebrate such a beautiful chapter in this mama’s life.

One of my favorite parts of the day? Helping her choose her look from my client closet. I’ve curated a collection of high-end, bump-friendly gowns in a range of textures and tones that photograph beautifully. For this session, she chose a flowing blush tulle gown that added just the right amount of softness and drama. Our second choice was a dramatic taupe tulle gown and kept everything barefoot and simple—it let her natural beauty and that incredible baby bump shine.

She glowed, honestly. There’s something so powerful and tender about maternity sessions, and when you pair that with a location like the Sekrit Theater, the results are pure magic. We wandered through ivy-covered archways, twirled inside the greenhouse, and soaked up every second of this fleeting, sweet season of motherhood.
